LONG LOST POLESWORTH SCHOOLS SHIELD FOUND

After an appeal in the Tamworth Herald, the Shield was traced to a lock up garage next to the Tamworth Progressive Club in Tamworth. St Johns Junior F.C. were found to be the last junior side to win the Shield but unfortunately failed to return it to Polesworth and with a move of their headquarters from the St John's Club to the Progressive Club and limited display opportunities due to its size, the Shield was "stored" in a lock up garage next to the Pro Club where old goal nets and other equipment gradually buried it until St John's officials were contacted and the Shield, as can be seen from the photo, is now returned to The Polesworth Community Association and joins the Polesworth Nursing Cup, The Polesworth Charity Cup and the Challenge Cup and the intention is to compete for at least the Nursing Cup and the "Schools Shield" in 2012.
