Saturday 11th September 2010 versus Higham F.C. at Home

The opening day of the season saw me on a beach in Cornwall under a clear blue sky and thinking of the  U10s Swifts playing back in Polesworth at home against Higham F.C.

I was kept up to date via texts and the 5-0 score line was I’m told a true reflection on the game.

Goals from Jack (2), Danny (2) and Ollie (1) and as usual a clean sheet sent the players and supporters home happy as well as a proud granddad  some 300 miles away.

Saturday 18th September 2010 versus  Measham Welfare away

This was my first game of the new 2010-11 season and what an enjoyable match it was. The Swifts U10s went 3 nil up against Measham Welfare courtesy of goals from Tommy, Jack and Lewis and the whole team showed how much they have improved over last season and the addition of three new players has borne fruit. The super passing football and honest endeavour with a great work rate is a pleasure to see. The addition of Tommy playing alongside Tom in defence has added an extra barrier to those teams playing with two up front and the ever reliable Cory in goal was at his unbeatable best and it took a deflected own goal to beat him late in the game. Travis playing in the midfield with Danny and Ollie has produced a very skilful midfield and Jack is in his element now with good crosses and through balls giving him every opportunity to score. Harvey and Lewis are available to provide different options and threats to the opposing teams.

Saturday 25th September 2010 versus Austrey Rangers  at home

With my younger grandson in his first season of organised football playing for Wilnecote Wanderers Inter in the U’8s division A, it means I am juggling my Saturday mornings watching the two lads who both kick off for different teams at the same time in different locations.

Unable to see the U’10s game against Austrey I was again kept up to date by my son Richard via mobile phone. Judge for yourself how this U’10s Swifts team is gelling with the 9-0 win as Jack bagged 5 goals and Danny helped himself to 4 goals. Tremendous stuff – how I wish I’d been there to see it.

Saturday 2nd October 2010 versus Castle JFC away at Anker Valley

THE Swifts went into this game missing Jack and we were concerned where the goals would come from. We need not have worried because Lewis showed us he too can find the net and helped himself to 4 goals in an enthralling game against one of the strongerteams in the division. Danny added 2 more goals to his season’s tally and Harvey helped himself to a fine goal as well. An own goal took our goals to 8 and a blatant penalty was awarded for handball in the final seconds. Cory stepped up to fire an unstoppable shot passed a shell shocked goalkeeper. Final score 9-0 to the swifts and we remain top of the league on goal difference.
