POLESWORTH SWIFTS U9 END OF SEASON 2009-2010 PRESENTATION
The lads with James Dorman from Top Score UK
What a great night it was at Birchmoor Club where the Polesworth Swifts U'9s held their presentation evening.
The lads were there all dressed up and the Moms and Dads looked great too.
This was a combined presentation again with the Birchmoor Utd teams and the atmosphere was electric as the young lads were invited up to receive their club trophies from new sponsor James Dorman who has a wealth of knowledge and experience having played as a proffessional goalkeeper for Walsall F.C. James is a local Warton lad whose company Top Score UK presently tours local schools teaching football skills to First School pupils and we are extremely pleased they have agreed to sponsor the Polesworth Swifts 2010-11 U'10s team.
The team was slightly depleted due to the Whitsun Holiday week but Jack Evans who transferred to the Swifts this season and is beginning to score for us regularly was present to pick up his club trophy and Harvey Grima's dad picked his up in his son's abscence.
Tommy Brown and Lewis Read have also joined us this year and we look forward to their input as the close season unfolds.
The following special Awards were presented:
Supporters player is awarded by those parents who attend the matches and judge the Man of The Match each game. The player receiving the most MOM Awards over this season is Goalkeeper Cory Gilkes who scooped the Award this year as his safe hands have ensured a goals against ratio of under 1 per game - a truly creditable performance.
Players Player is voted for by each player in the team for who, in their opinion, they believe is the best player and this year Tom Markland surely received the award for his stubborn defending and emerging skills as a player prepared to set up the midfield for attacking possibilities. Tom also captains the side and is beginning to show his authority and maturity on the pitch.
The Sponsors' Award presented again this year by Mark from "Fenced In", who has sponsored the Swifts U'9s for the past two seasons, was presented to Oliver Street whose work rate and terrier like qualities make him a difficult player for opposing players to compete against.
Most Improved Player (who in my opinion was every single member of the team) is probably the most difficult Award to determine but there can be no arguments with the decision to award it to Brandyn Walton as he only joined the team this season but has quickly earned a regular place in the team with his non stop effort and emerging skills.
Managers' Player is a another difficult selection but in the end the Award winner determined by Mark, Gary & Richard quite rightly went to Danny Young who continues to marshal the midfield and push forward when the opportunity arrives. A good player on the ball who can strike the ball hard and accurately, as his goal tally testifies, is well deserving of this Managers' Award.
It just remained for the lads to be presented with their "World Cup" runners up trophies again just to remind us proud spectators of that wonderful performance at the tournament held recently at the Lamb.
Other members of the team who have been training in readiness to "sign on the dotted line"this coming U'10s season are:
Tommy Brown and Lewis Read who wish a successful season but they should know they will need to be on top of the their game if they want to get into the side regularly over the coming seasons.
Mark, Gary and Richard received a gift of a POLESWORTH SWIFTS U'10s emblazoned polo shirt for next season arranged by Laura and the team presented Laura with a lovely bouquet to thank her for the provision of hot drinks when the wintry gales whistle across the home pitch at the High School.
Thanks Mark, Gary, Richard and Steve once again for the time and effort you expend just so our ladssons (and grandsons) can enjoy this beautiful game.
