Due to a family crisis which meant a quick trip to France, I was unable to watch the U9's Swifts in action at the Coton Green Toiurnament at the weekend.

Finishing the qualifying stage with played 3, won 3, drawn 0, lost 0, goals F 4, goals A 0, Polesworth went into the semis against Measham and despatched them from the tournament with a hat-trick from Jack in what would appear to be a resounding 3-0 victory.

Following on from the success of the previous weekend at the Lamb the Swifts were again into the final and were up against the hosts Coton Green who had a very successful 2009-10 season winning the Tamworth FC Challenge Cup and finishing runners up in Division South. The result would indicate a close fought game with Coton Green emerging as 2-1 winners of their tournament.

Analysis of the results once again show the emergence of Jack as a striker of true potential. 7 goals in the five games played is a tremendous and welcome strike ratio and bodes well for the coming season. It is again pleasing to report that the team under Tom's captaincy and Cory's goalkeeping is still reluctant to concede goals and it would appear that apart from the two goals against in the final the team continues to jealously guard their goals against record.

The photographs below show the team defending against Coton Green in the final and displaying their well deserved finalists medals.

I am looking forward to watching the next warm up games that Mark and Gary have arranged (hopefully not at altitude) and can't wait for the annual U9's presentation night at Birchmoor Club this coming Saturday to see the lads pick up their well deserved trophies and awards - I'll take some pictures and let you know who won the individual awards. My award is for the whole team who have given me such a rollercoaster of emotions this season and who have always strived to improve under the guidance of their coaches.
My thanks also to Mark, Gary, Richard and Steve who are continuing to give of their valuable leisure time to ensure so many lads get to play and enjoy the game we all love so much.
